This week we have your last stop on the guided tour. Hopefully, you're feeling like a WikiTree pro! If not, you can always revisit the tour stops via the comment boxes on the right side of your profile.

You've covered a lot of ground the past few weeks. Today, we want to give you just a few more tools that can take you even deeper into the WikiTree forest without getting lost: How to Dig a Little Deeper.

Please do not hesitate to ask questions!

Thanks, WikiMesssenger Cindy

PS Good work so far! Have you noticed on your ancestor profiles on the bottom right is "Research" where you can get sources and more information? Give it a try sometime!

You may have been hard at work getting connected to family members who are already here and adding those who were missing. You probably have at least a few profiles that you manage now.

There's a fast and easy way to access those profiles using the Watchlist. So, this week we're going to look at How to Manage Your Watchlist.

Please let one of us know if you have questions! Just click my name above the comment, then ask in the comment section of my page. We want to help!

You've been here for several weeks now! We hope your profiles are starting to come together and that you've enjoyed getting to know all of us a little better.

You're probably getting a good feel for the collaborative nature of WikiTree by now. We know that collaboration isn't always easy. So, we've put together a few pointers that can make working in this type of environment a little easier: How to be a Successful WikiTreer.

As always, your questions are welcome!

Hi!

It's time for the next stop on your guided tour. This time, we'd like to introduce you to our community, show you some ways to get more involved, and recommend some ways to stay up-to-date on everything that's going on: How to Join in the Community.

If you have questions, click my name above this comment, then ask in the comment section of my page. We want to help!

PS. Looks like you had to do some merging. Would you edit your profile to remove the duplicate headings that start with =, just leaving one of each. It helps keep the database error free. Thanks for sharing your well sourced family!

Nancy --

You've been here a week now, and we hope you enjoyed your first stop on your guided tour of WikiTree and were able to make good use of the things you learned.

Our next stop will give you some pointers on how to make your profiles stand out: How to Make the Most of a Profile.

As always, your questions are welcome!

Shirley

Hi,

I just wanted to check in with you to see how things were going. If you have any questions or need direction please feel free to contact me. Michelle~WikiTree Mentor

You are now a confirmed member, and you can get started adding your family members. As we've said, WikiTree is quite different from other genealogy sites. So, we've put together a guided tour to help you learn how to use it. Your first stop is How to Start Climbing Our Tree.

Tomorrow, you'll hear from a Mentor who will check in to see how you're doing and answer any questions you might have.

Next week, you'll get another message with your next stop on the guided tour.

You can also meet some of our members by joining in the fun with our Question of the Week in the G2G forum: What is your most memorable genealogical discovery?

See you in the branches, Cindy

Me again. Noticed you uploaded a GEDCOM. That is great. WikiTree GEDCOM process is a bit different from those used at other genealogy sites. Here are same help pages to make your GEDCOM experience more smoothly:

1. Understand the difference between Upload vs Import.

2. What is GEDCompare? Find instructions for reviewing your GEDCompare Report if you want to import it into WikiTree.

3. What you need to do Before Importing a GEDCOM.

4. What is required After importing a GEDCOM.

If you have any brick walls, collaboration might help them bust through. Because WikiTree has only one profile for each person, the further back you go in your ancestry, the more likely cousins will find you and help out. ANY Wiki Genealogist can edit "Open" profiles (over 200 years old = open). There's also a brickwall tag in the G2G forum: brickwall

If you have any questions about your GEDCOM or our process, you can contact our GEDCOM Manager for assistance.

A warm welcome to WikiTree! The initial email from us has helpful links that will get you started on WikiTree, which is not like any genealogy site you’ve ever used and it is FREE. WikiTree is different because our goal is to have one profile per person, and that means we all work together as a BIG collaborative team!

Here are some other suggestions for you to explore:

1. Our Help pages have all sorts of useful information or you may explore the “Family Tree & Tools” tab at the top of your profile.

2. Our Honor Code is a very important part of why our community is such a friendly place to grow your family tree so please take some time to read it.

What brings you to WikiTree? Do you have research you’d like to share? Are you interested in how your family fits into the big tree? When you confirm your email address, you’ll see a Volunteer option on your profile page. Click that and leave us a short message about your genealogical interests. A Greeters Project volunteer will be happy to confirm your membership, and you’ll be on your way!

More importantly, have fun growing your family tree and connecting to persons with the same interest.

Ludwig :)
