Biography

Judith Soane, second wife of Henry Randolph, married Major Peter Field, Gent., after Henry's death. By Henry, she had a son and two daughters: Capt. Henry Randolph,^[1] Judith Randolph, and Martha Randolph. She had two daughters by Peter Field: Mary (Field) Jefferson and Martha (Field) Archer.^[2] Mary Field and her husband Capt. Thomas Jefferson were the parents of Peter Jefferson, father of future President Thomas Jefferson.^[3]

Judith Soane was born about 1646 in Litlington, East Sussex, England.^[5]

Judith was the daughter of Henry Soane, Speaker of the House of Burgesses.^[5]

She arrived in the Colony of Virgina in 1651.

In 1661 she married Henry Randolph.

In 1678 she married Peter Field in Chickahominy, Charles City, Colony of Virginia.^[5]

In 1695 she was mentioned in the will of her brother John Soane. The will of John Soane, dated Dec. 1, 1695, mentions his mother Judith Soane, widow of Henry, brother Peter Field

She died in 1703 In Henrico, Virginia. ^[5]
