Hi Joan,

We hope you can join Team MidAtlantic for the 2022 Source-a-thon. It will start 8 am EDT on Friday, September 30th and end at 8 am on Monday, October 3rd. The Source-a-thon is different from the Connect-a-thon in that we will be working on existing profiles. There are links on our team page to lists of unsourced profiles: https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Space:Team_New_York

Hi Joan

I am so sorry you did not receive the message I sent you back on April 21st with instructions for the Connectathon. Mindy Silva who was in charge of the whole thing also sent out instructions, so I am wondering if our messages went to your spam folder. So you have it for the future, here it is:

The Connect-a-thon is one of the easier thons in that you don’t have to worry about making sure to use the challenge tracker. Ales’ program searches each team member’s contributions for statements that you added someone, like this:

20:38: You added Edward Cliff Goodale (1887-1961) as child of Orin Wright Goodale (1847-1926).

You can work on your own branches of the tree, a project you are involved in, if you like wandering in rabbit holes the Unconnected lists on our team page or if you want to keep it simple the Needs Profiles Added lists.

Our team chat is on Discord. If you are not currently on Discord and need to set it up, here are the instructions:

https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Help:Discord

Again, I am sorry that you weren't able to participate.

Hi

Thanks so much for being a member of the Mid-Atlantic Team for the April Connectathon. It was a fun and productive weekend. We added 3,716 profiles to Wikitree between the two teams and had 49 people participate. Considering many of us can’t stop at just one source, we may never make the top ten, but we did great!

Mindy usually sends out a wrap up message in which she mentions how to delete from your watchlist profiles you do not want to continue to manage. Can I make a request, wait until tomorrow before you do this, and then can you check your suggestion list and see if there are any typos that need to be corrected. We don’t want to add to the data doctors’ work.

See you next thon Mickey

John Farrelly was born about 1843 in Cranadillon Ireland. He married Josephine Beier in about 1892; had 4 children Patrick, May, Rose and Lucille. Lucille is my wife's grandmother. As far as we can tell, the name was changed when he married Josephine. We don't have records of his living in PA. First settling in Manhattan, most of the family lived in Queens, NY or Elizabeth/Newark NJ.

Greetings!

Now that you have had a little time to try WikiTree, there are a few more features you may find useful.

Ideas on what to include in a profile can be found in Styles and Standards, including some tips on writing biographies.

If you need to describe an event, an heirloom or a location relevant to your research, you may like to learn about Free Space Profiles.

Lastly, sometimes you'll run into unresponsive profile managers. We have a process for resolving those unfortunate situations.

If you have any questions, feel free to ask via my profile page.

Hi Jo,

Just a quick PS

Don't forget to Head over to the G2G forum. and take a minute to introduce yourself in the Tree House or ask a question in any of the other categories. There's also a brickwall tag in the G2G forum: for that "special" ancestor who is eluding you.

Best Wishes, and have fun adding your leaves and branches!
