Jean was born in 1908 to William Wesley Snow and Lydia Rebecca Tritle. He was raised in the Spirit Lake Community and married Fern Valeria Wilkinson. Their witnesses were Ardith Wilkinson, sister to Fern, and Howard F. Groewing, friend of Jean. Rev. H. E. Hutchinson officiated the marriage. To them were born four sons. Jean worked as mechanic in his father's garage, he drove a milk truck and did many odd jobs throughout the area as well as highway maintenance. Jean was part of the crew that built the Alaskan Highway entering that service when his youngest son was only a year old. He and Jean moved to an acreage outside of Clear Lake, Cerro Gordo Conty, Iowa in 1946. He not only farmed area farm sites but also had a dray business hauling products from the train to any area and even he hauled ice harvested from the lake in the winter. He enjoyed doing various woodworking projects and was a warehouseman at the Mason City Millworks in Mason City at the time of his death. Jean dearly loved his grandchildren and had a special place in his heart for all of them. He died unexpectedly at work on a Tuesday morning from heart ailments in 1966.
