The Potosi Genealogical Society has compiled a list of family members, births, marriages & deaths. There has been considerable confusion over the family name. There are several lists under the surname Smith, Smythe, Schmidt with duplications of individuals with same 1st name & birthdate under a different surname list. Smith & Smythe are variations which are equivalent to "blacksmith" occupation. Alternate spellings for the same name include Schmitt, Schmidt & Schmidtz.
