Biography
Francis was the Executor and principal heir of his father John Smith of Corsham, Wiltshire.[1] When his father's will was written in 1563 Francis was unmarried. His mother was Bridget Bellott.
His year of birth is unknown and is estimated as c 1546.
There is evidence for a first wife for Francis. The parish register for Corsham includes a burial for 'Julyan Smyth', wife of ' Frannice' on 14 Mar 1581/1582.[2]
In the Markes pedigree in the Visitation of Wiltshire in 1623 Francis was recorded as having married Isabella Ligon [Lygon], daughter of John Ligon [Lygon] of Richard's Castle, Herefordshire.[3][4]
The date and place of the marriage are unknown, but it was before 31 July 1586.

- Katherine Smyth[3][4][5] (baptised on 31 Jul 1586 at Corsham, Wiltshire, daughter of Francies and Sibell)[6]
Francis Smythe, gent., was buried on 16 Mar 1607/1608 at Corsham, Wiltshire.[7]
No will for Francis has been identified.
