Gertrude was born in 1911. She was the daughter of Cecil Smythe and Mable McLellan.

She married Eric Vidal in 1932.^[1]

Gertrude died in 1982,^[2] and was buried at All Saints Anglican Cemetery in Katepwa Beach, Saskatchewan.^[3]
