Charlotte was born on 16 June 1844 in Ireland. She was the daughter of John Fitzgerrard Smyth and Emily Campbell.^[1]

She married WIlliam Crowley. Their marriage was registered in the Oct-Nov-Dec quarter of 1864 in Salford, Lancashire, England.^[2]

Charlotte arrived in 1868.^[3][4]

In the 1870 census she (age 27), keeping house, was in Baltimore Ward 15, Baltimore (Independent City), Maryland.^[5]
