Helen Smyth (Smith) was born on 18 Sep 1673, and was baptised three days later at Ayr, Ayrshire, Scotland. Her father was Henry Smyth (Smith), and her mother was Jonat Banatin. Helen Smith married David Cathcart at Ayr on 27 April 1699. Their son Elias Cathcart was baptised at Ayr in 1703.
