Howard "Red" Smithson February 12, 1939 β€” March 9, 2022 Moundville, Alabama Howard Smithson, age 83 of Moundville, passed away March 9, 2022 at home. An 11:00 am graveside will be held on Saturday, March 12, 2022 at Oak Hill Cemetery in Moundville with Dr. Jason Duckett and Rev. Bart Shipley officiating and Magnolia Chapel South directing. He is preceded in death by his parents; Leonard D. and Ruth Warren Smithson, wife; Audrey Smith Smithson, siblings; Madeleine Shipley (Rufus), and Margaret Rice (Martice). Survivors include his sons; Joseph H. Smithson (Amy), and Carl Jeffrey Smithson (Melony), brother; Tom Smithson (Joan), brother-in-law; Tim Smith (Ann), grandchildren; Kyle Smithson (Mallory), Clay Smithson (Haylee), Heather Gray (Stewart), Caroline Crawford (Grayson), great grandchildren; Cade and Merritt Smithson, Emmett Smithson, Sawyer Gray. Howard had a 42 year career with Alabama Power . He served the Lord in many roles at Moundville Baptist Church over the years. He had a wonderful sense of humor and loved to make people smile and laugh! Pallbearers will be Kyle Smithson, Clay Smithson, Stewart Gray, Grayson Crawford, Jason Smith, and Ken Ryan. Honorary pallbearers are Encompass Home Health and Hospice, his "angelic" caregivers, Dr. Larry Skelton, and members of the Stephen Sunday School Class at Moundville Baptist Church. A special thank you to Hale County EMS, and Moundville PD for going "above and beyond" to assist Howard
