Biography

Annie was born on July 26, 1924 at Elgin in Scott County, Tennessee. She was the daughter of Phene Smithers and Lue Melia ( Lawson ) Smithers. Annie married a brown ( No other information available at this time ) She later married Johnnie Chester King on September 12, 1959 in Scott County. She passed away on September 12, 1998.

Annie Belle Smithers Brown King, died September 28, 1998. Born in Scott County, Tenn., July 26, 1924, she was the daughter of the late Phene and Lue Melia Lawson Smithers. In addition to her parents, she was preceded also in death by four brothers, and one sister. She was a member of West Robbins Missionary Baptist Church, but attended Helenwood Baptist Church until the time of her illness. She is survived by her husband, Johnnie C. King; three daughters: Norma Jean Brown, and Janet Sue King, both of Helenwood, and Leila Fay and husband, Clark Posey, of Oneida; special cousin, Imogene Brewster; two special friends, Faye Bradshaw and daughter, Keeshia; and many other relatives. Funeral service was conducted October 1, 1998, at Helenwood Baptist Church with Rev. Roger Cecil and Rev. Cecil Babb officiating. Music was provided by Helenwood Church Choir. Interment followed in Daniel Memorial Cemetery. Four Oaks Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements. (Source: The Independent Herald, 1 Oct 1998, p11)
