Robert (1) Smith, born about 1611, was a signer of the Exeter Combination in 1639. He settled in Hampton as early as 1657 and was a tailor. His wife, Susannah, was killed by lightning, June 12, 1680. He died August 30, 1706 (Wentworth - p59)

Research Notes

Disambiguation: There is no credible evidence that he was the same Robert Smith who arrived at age 12 as a servant of John Whittingham , which is claimed in some publications.

Disputed children: Robert had only six known children (the 5 named in his will, and son Israel who predeceased him).[1] The following children were disconnected due to lack of sources. They can be reconnected if reliable sources can validate the relationship:

Given that his parents John and Dorothy are most likely not correct, shouldn't they be detached unless there is evidence to the contrary? If possible parents are to be attached, then the folks from Lincolnshire make more sense. Robert Smith and Susannah Buste.

Anderson in his Great Migration Directory said that Robert's origins are unknown. Is there a reliable source showing the parents you've named are correct for the immigrant Robert?

Thank you

It does look like there's no reliable source for these parents. Following up on S Willson's comment, It would be good to be able to add some research notes with possible or "frequently seen" parents. It seems like you're familiar with this family, so if you have any sources that make the case for these parents (whether correct or not), it's helpful to be able to include them in the notes prior to disconnecting.

According to Dow's History of Hampton, their children are John, Meribah, Jonathan, and Joseph, and that's it. Please detach the others.

Genealogical Dictionary of Maine and New Hampshire lists five children, adding Israel of Boston. But there doesn't seem to be a source connecting Nathaniel and Sarah. I'll post a comment on those profiles.

There were previous notes on the profiles regarding disconnecting, so I added links and Research notes to all the profiles, and disconnected Nathaniel and Sarah.
