Biography

Was born in Hyannis, MA in 1959. We lived there for a couple years until we moved to North Hampton, NH after my sister Coleen was born in Hyannis, MA also. My sister Brenda was born in Portsmouth, NH.

I attended the North Hampton Elementary School through 8th grade and then attend Winnacunnet High School graduating in 1977. I then attended the University of New Hampshire from 1977-1982 where I graduated with a BS in Mechanical Engineering.

I started working at Hanscom AFB in Bedford, MA in September 1982 where I was in the Engineer-in-Training (EIT) program starting at a GS-5 pay grade. In this program you rotated every year until you reached your GS-12 pay grade. After approximately 3.5 years I left civil service and worked for a company called Dynamics Research Corporation (DRC) as an engineer/program manager supporting various programs at Hanscom AFB until 1996 as a consultant. At this point, I left DRC and subcontracted on my own to various companies that had support contracts at Hanscom AFB. I still worked supporting the USAF at Hanscom AFB but subcontracted to a number of companies instead of being an employee.

I semi-retired in April 2013 to pursue some “bucket list” items while my health was still strong.

April 22, 2013 - September 30, 2013 I did a through-hike of the Appalachian Trail ( 2179.9 miles).

May 11, 2014 - June 1, 2014 I joined an expedition to Mount Denali in Alaska. I made it to approximately 16,200 feet but we could not go higher due to weather issues the next few days.

December 29, 2014 - January 15, 2015 I joined an expedition to Mount Aconcagua, Argentina. I made it to approximately 21,700 feet but ran out of energy and did not summit.

August 15, 2015 - September 7, 2015 I hiked the Long Trail (272 miles) in Vermont. The Long Trail goes for the border of Massachussets and Vermont north all the way to the Vermont/Canadian border.

November 16-30, 2016 - Climbed Mount Kilimanjaro, Tanzania, Africa. I made it to the top, 19,341 feet. I also did 3 days of safaris after the climb which was pretty awesome.

Dear Mark,

since I didn’t see any reaction from your side about the check-in message from May, I assume you don’t want to remain a project member. If I don’t hear from you within the next 14 days, I will then remove your Germany Project badge. If you do not wish for that to happen, please reply to the check-in message below or send me a direct message.

If this message finds you too late, feel free to re-request the badge by replying to our G2G join post.

Kind regards from Black Forest

Ah, now I see, that you initially posted a new comment on your page instead of repyling to mine. That was, why I didn't see it at first. Sorry.

Dear Germany Project member,

it's annual check-in time 2023. If you still wish to remain a member of the Germany Project, please reply to this post, by stating this intention. If we don’t hear from you in the next 30 days, your membership badge will be removed. In this case please don't be offended ... you're welcome to rejoin at any time. Please also note, that in order to receive help, with researching your German ancestors, membership is not mandatory. Just ask your questions in the G2G forum and tag them with Germany in order for knowledgeable people to see them.

If you wish to remain a member, we would like to learn more about your perception of the Germany Project in order to achieve a future development according to our members needs and wishes. For this, we created a survey, which we kindly ask you to fill-in.

In case you want to communicate, discuss and receive help about WikiTree in German, you might want to check out the WikiTree category at Compgen’s Discourse as well as the German Discord server Ahnenforschung.

Of course there’s still the official WikiTree Discord server, where we usually talk English. Feel free to learn more about Discord and the server at Help:Discord.

Kind regards from Black Forest

Hi Mark,

Thank you for adding your DNA to WikiTree. Getting the Best from DNA will tell you more about how DNA kits are used on WikiTree.

I hope this helps! If you have any questions or problems, let me know.

Hi,

On behalf of the Germany Project, I am currently undergoing our member check-in's and wanted to verify that you are still interested in being a member of the project. Are you currently assigned to or working with one of our Sub-projects or Teams? We have many new teams so have a look on the Germany project page for the full list. I would be delighted to help you get setup in one or more of our collaborative teams!

We use Google groups for project collaboration, so if you are not yet setup, please submit a join request and we will get that approved as quickly as possible. We also ask that you check your followed tags to make sure you are following the correct project tag (GERMANY) so you don't miss any discussions in G2G.

We really appreciate your contributions on WikiTree, and thank you for all your hardwork. If you have any questions please ask. I would also love to hear any feedback you may have for the project!

Please respond by private message. I look forward to hearing from you soon!

think when one starts part of a family, then another, who has started their tree adds yours, so eventually one tree. Anyway if you are descended from Roger Williams, we are cousins. I am reading a book about Roger Williams. called God, War and Providence, by James A Warren, good reading

Hi Mark,

Thank you for self-certifying for the Pre-1700 badge! Participation in a Pre-1700 Project is strongly encouraged for those wishing to edit Pre-1700 profiles. Collaboration is essential because pre-1700 ancestors are shared by many descendants.

It looks like German Roots would be a good fit with the tag you entered. Adding the tag German_Roots will help you get updates about activity for that project.

Do you have any questions? Let me know. I'm happy to help! :-)

Hello Mark,

I am also related to Reverend Roger Williams, and closely enough that I have his data, I am new to the Wikitree and I Am also having a hard time figuring out how to use the site, it is my understanding the tree is supposed to be one big tree; however, people are either unwilling to share a tree, or don't have proper information.....anyway, I just wanted to give the thank you for mentioning

Hi!

Just checking in with a few quick tips:

http://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Free-Space_Profile Free Space pages] are wiki pages for supplementing your family history. They can be used to profile anything of significance such as a special pet, a meaningful event, a school you attended, a family heirloom…… They’re “anything pages.”

Not sure what to include in a profile? Check out ourBiography Ideas and Styles and Standards help pages.

Lastly, sometimes you’ll run into unresponsive profile managers. We have a process for resolving those unfortunate situations.

If you have any questions, please ask!
