George was a policeman in South Australia 1852. Mounted, and Foot police, and later a Railway policeman. He became a Dairyman with a milk round before his death. Was in the pub having a Pint, when he was Heckled by Robert Sutcliff for being a policeman. Robert waited outside pub for George to leave, and then set upon him, breaking his anckle so bad he had to go to Hospital. The break became Gangrene, and resulted in georges death. A bedside court hearing was heard, and Sutcliff got manslaughter. Sutcliff had a family when he went to jail, but by the time he got out most of his family had died. He had no decendants to keep his name going. Nancey had to argue to get their home, and then sold it to travel north to her family. She then had to bring up 6 children alone. She never remarried.
