Salome Wilson Smith was born on November 19, 1816, in New Braintree, Massachusetts. She married Ebenezer Ripley on May 1, 1839, in Barre, Massachusetts. They had two children during their marriage. She died as a young mother on August 26, 1842, in Barre, Massachusetts, at the age of 25, and was buried there.
