After his marriage he changes his surname to Smythson , he later uses his middle name as his first name.
In the 1851 census Marcus (age 33) was the head of household in St George the Martyr, Middlesex, England.[2]
Marcus became a member of the The Royal Society of Musicians of Great Britain on the 7 March 1858 as confirmed in the Society's book, “Members of The Royal Society of Musicians 1738-1984” on Page 135
