Biography

Marcus was a member of the Royal Society of Musicians of Great Britain

Alfred (full age), son of Benjamin Christina Smith and a professor of music , married Jane Harriet Sallway on 25 February 1841 in St Martin-In-The-Fields, London, Westminster, England.[1]

After his marriage he changes his surname to Smythson , he later uses his middle name as his first name.

In the 1851 census Marcus (age 33) was the head of household in St George the Martyr, Middlesex, England.[2]

Marcus became a member of the The Royal Society of Musicians of Great Britain on the 7 March 1858 as confirmed in the Society's book, “Members of The Royal Society of Musicians 1738-1984” on Page 135

He holds the appointments of Chorus Master at the Royal Italian Opera and Sub-Conductor at the Sacred Harmonic Society, is a professor of the Piano Forte and for singing.
