Thanks for taking the Pre-1700 Quiz!
Pre-1700 ancestors can be shared by many descendants, so collaboration is essential. You can learn more about joining the community in How To #3 and in the Project FAQ.
The United States Project may fit your research focus. If not, use the Pre-1700 Projects list to find other possibilities. Review the project page to learn about resources and guidelines as well as how to collaborate with the project members.

Thank you for adding your DNA to WikiTree. Getting the Best from DNA will tell you more about how DNA kits are used on WikiTree.
I hope this helps! If you have any questions or problems, let me know.
Take care

As you have been a member of WikiTree for a few weeks now I thought I would check in to see how you are getting on with the site.
Has the New Member How-To been helpful or left you with any questions?
I am here to help with any problems or queries you may have. Just click my name, then ask in the comment section of my page or send me a private message.
Sometimes links don't work in emails. If that's happened to you, check the public comments on your profile. The links will work from there.

I understand that very well, I never seem to have enough time either :-). I also found it very overwhelming when I first joined here, not what I was used to at all, soon everything seemed to click into place, and it was nice knowing that I would get an answer to my questions instead of an automated reply then nothing. Mags is amazing I don't think there is anything she doesn't know.
Have fun Karen
Thanks very much for joining and for jumping right into correcting and beefing up the information I had on your line. Great to meet a new cousin.

For searching names, like Smith, the first thing I do, after entering the full names into the search fields and get the results page, is to use the sort buttons at the top to whittle it down by birth date or first name. This helps most of the time. At the bottom of the results page are advanced search options. Here you can specify more precise information. Hopefully, this is what you wanted to know.
Unsolicited advice? Bookmark pages as you go so you can get back to them easily. I learned this very quickly when I first started. Another piece of advice is the Google Chrome Extension, WikiTree X. It allows you to search multiple sites for information on a profile. Once you find a record you can easily add it to WikiTree using the chrome extension. It will add a blurb about the record in the bio section and add a source citation as well.

Check out the New Member How-to pages for some quick tips on working with both the Wiki pages and our other members. There is some great information in those pages.

P.S. If links do not work in an email from WikiTree, try them from the comment section on your profile page.
