Biography
Caroline Smith was born in about 1825 in Sheffield, Yorkshire, England, United Kingdom. She was the daughter of Unknown Smith and his wife, Elizabeth.
She was married to Thomas Platts in 1846 [1]
In 1851 the couple were living in the house of her mother, Elizabeth Smith (66, born in Rotherham) at 3 Steel House Lane, Sheffield, Yorkshire (West Riding), England, United Kingdom. The couple had two daughters, Mary Ann (3) and Emily (6 months). Elizabeth's son, Joseph Smith (24) was also living with them. [2]
In 1861, the family were still living with Elizabeth Smith (72), in Steel House Lane, Sheffield, Yorkshire. Thomas (36) and Caroline (32) had three daughters, Mary Ann (13), Caroline Susan (5) and Elizabeth (2). [3]
