He was a corporal of the 78th Regiment of the Ohio Volunteer Regiment, Company H. He was killed on July 22, 1864 during battle near Atlanta, Georgia. The regiment lost 200 men during the battle on July 22 and 23rd, including 13 color bearers. Shriver was killed protecting the colors during one Confederate charge.[2]
Shriver is buried in the Marietta National Cemetery at Marietta, Georgia. A memorial can be found at Find A Grave.[3]
