Jonathan was born about 1820. Jonathan Shockey ... He passed away about 1849.
His father, Henry, penned a letter in 1848 to Jonathan stating that “your grandmother Shilling is alive and in good health” (The Shockey Chronicles, 2:1273). The letter also made reference that they had moved to Missouri but were not satisfied there. By 1850, he had died, and his widow was living back in Kentucky with the children and her brother, Jonathan Jones, in Clinton County, Kentucky.
