Biography

Vera May SHEPHERD was born in Baulkham Hills NSW in 1901^[1]. Her parents were Herbert Charles SHEPHERD and Margaret Jane BOWES, and she was the eldest of their 6 children

Vera was a bright student in Baulkam Hills area, and was awarded a student teachership. She was sent off to a country school, in Temora NSW aged 17-ish.

She married Donald Andrew POTTS in Baulkham Hills Presbyterian Church, NSW on 23 Feb 1922. ^[2]. Don was aged 21 years, and Vera was aged 20 years.

They had 2 children:

1. Margaret (COLLYER), b 1922 in Grenfell NSW, d 2018 in Canterbury VIC
2. James

They separated in 1930s and divorced in 1951. She never saw her children after the separation.

Vera was divorced from Donald in 1951, but she retained the POTTS family name. She worked as a school teacher in the Blue Mountains area, with a little house in the bush.

Vera May POTTS passed away in Katooomba NSW on 25 June 1987, aged 86 years ^[3].
