Have you considered the land patent, Dec. 20, 1667 issued to Dunkin Bohono (Bohannon) and John Mechen for transport of several people, including Roger Shackleford? Duncan Bohono received a patent of land with John Mechen for 220 acres lying at the head of the eastern most river in Mobjack Bay, adjoining lands of Mr. Armistead and Captain Dudley. For the transportation of Thomas Amis, Roger Shackleford, John Blan, John Thomas. I have not been able to secure a copy of the patent to which you refer and would like to see it. I do have a copy of the 1667 document which is of official record. Shackleford I believe was in a friendship circle that included Armistead and Dudley, and also Dunkin Bohannon as well as Mechen. They all lived in the same general area, most had touching estates either directly or chained. Thanks for your consideration.
Peggy, do you happen to speak any other languages? Would you check out our languages template and add it to your biography? For example you might add
{{ Languages | en | fr-2 | ga-1 }}
to the top of your biography if you speak English natively, intermediate French and basic Irish, or you could use de-4 to specify near-native German or ru-1 for basic Russian, and so forth up to ten languages.
It really helps to know who speaks all the different languages used on WikiTree! If you only speak English, you're very welcome to use this text to make that clear:
Hi Peggy, thank you for your work on merges. Remember, after the merge you will want to clean up the Contents Section text and make sure there are Sources to support the merge.
Sometimes you get the same information mentioned twice both Bio and Souces. You want to eliminate or delete one of them.
You will also want to review all other family members for potential duplicates and review any conflicts in parents.
Again, Thank you for your help in our global WikiTree project to create one World Tree linking as many ancestors as possible.
I noticed when going through all the Gilberts listed that your Samuel Gilbert III has the same exact birth date as another Samuel Gilbert posted two days later. This profiles was created by gedcom from Ancestry. Since I don't have a subscription anymore I thought I would mention it so you could check for a merge if you could see the information. ~G
I see where you have uploaded your DNA for comparison. Did you know we have a project for DNA where a lot of great new things are happening? If you are interested and would like to check it out, go to the FIND link top right of your profile page, select PROJECTS from the drop down box, and then select the link for the DNA project. It has information listed that might be of interest to you, and feel free to contact any of the members if you would like additional details.

Please add quality sourced information to your profiles which is extremely important. Estimate if you aren't sure about birth or death dates. By doing so you searches will be more productive and helping expand your branches.
Also, this aids WikiTree Arborists in finding duplicates. *Most importantly check for duplicates before adding new profiles.*
Feel free to contact me if you need any assistance. Thanks for your desire to help us improve our mission!

Just checking in with a few quick tips

Not sure what to include in a profile? Check out our Biography Ideas and Styles and Standards help pages.
Lastly, sometimes you'll run into unresponsive profile managers. We have a process for resolving those unfortunate situations.
If you have any questions, please ask
