Biography

John Sempill, 13th Lord Sempill was the son of Brig.-Gen. Hugh Sempill, 12th Lord Sempill and Sarah Gaskell.^[1][2]

He succeeded as the 13th Lord Sempill on 25 November 1746.

He married Janet Dunlop, daughter of Hugh Dunlop, on 10 March 1755.^[3][4] They had issue;

1. Joanna, d. 10 Jul 1840
2. Hugh, 14th Lord Sempill b. 1 Jul 1758, d. 25 Jan 1830
3. Sarah, b. 8 Mar 1762, d. 8 Sep 1799
4. Janet, b. c 1768, d. 6 Jun 1858

John died on 15 January 1782.
