This biography states that Eliza moved to Washinton DC after her husband's death. She did not move to Washington until the last years of her very long life. New York remained her home most of her life. She was able to keep The Grange which was the family's country home and mainly used in the warmer months, for 30 years after Hamilton's death. She spent the winters with one or another of her children in New York. In 1833 she sold the Grange and bought a house in the city on St. Marks place where she lived with her daughter Elizabeth (Betsy) and her husband. Betsy's husband died in 1842 and it wasn't until sometime after this that the widowed mother and daughter moved permanently to Washington.
