Jacob Schober was a pioneer Settler of Nescopeck, Pennsylvania.

Biography

Jacob Schober(Shover) is mentioned in an 1800s article about Nescopeck Twp in the History of Luzerne Co, as being one of the first people to settle in Nescopeck Twp,I have searched land warrant maps for all of what would have been Nescopeck Twp around 1800 and his name isn't there. I guess it is possible he bought land from someone else but I have no proof of that. Jacob was said to have been born in 1765 and he passed away in 1816 but I have found no proof of that so far and I believe he most probably was born before 1760. Three of his children,Johan Schober,Jacob Schober and Maria Schober Maurer, had children baptised in Mt Zion church between 1809 and 1812,so it appears they were in the Nescopeck area. In 1813 Johan and Catherine were sponsers for another child born to Phillip and Maria Maurer and Jacob and Elizabeth had a daughter Susanna baptized at Wapwallopen. Another younger son of Jacob, Christopher married a Spaide,they settled in the Hobbie or Pond Hill area. John and his wife Catherine Elizabeth must have went to Drums/St Johns and are buried in the St Johns cemetery. Catarina Schober,probably Jacobs wife,along with Johan and Catherine's deaths are all recorded in Rev Issac Shellhammers records but since Catarina isn't in the St Johns cemetery records it's uncertain where she is buried.
