OTTAWA - Lawrence P. Schmitz, 74, of Rt. 3, Ottawa, died at 1:30 p.m. Monday in Lima St. Rita's Hospital after an illness of three months.
Born Oct. 19, 1889, in Glandorf, he was the son of Jodocus and Caroline (Meyer) Schmitz. He married Adelea Karhoff in 1924 and she survives.
Also surviving are three daughters, Mrs. Eugene (Lucille) Kneuven of Celina, Mrs. Leander (Evelyn) Brinkman of Rt 3, Ottawa, and Miss Lillian Schmitz of Ottawa; two sons, Norman and Charles, both at home; three brothers, William, Hubert and John, all of Glandorf; two sisters, Mrs. Philomena Bockrath of Lima and Mrs. Martha Webken of Kalida; and 17 grandchildren. A son and a sister are deceased.
Mr. Schmitz was a member of St. John's Catholic Church at Glandorf and the Holy Name Society.
Funeral Mass will be offered at 9:30 a.m. Thursday in the church by Rev. Aloys Friedrich. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Friends may call at McCrate Funeral Home after 7 this evening. The Rosary will be recited at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday in the church by the Holy Name Society.
