Theodor was born on 6 Aug 1865 and baptized on 12 Aug 1865 in Wetzlar.[1][2] He was orphaned at the age of 9 years, when his mother died on 3 Sep 1874 (his father was unknown). Theodor was admitted to the "Johann David Winkler'scher Waisenfonds" on 11 Sep 1874 and was under its care until 15 Apr 1882.[3] He was assigned to foster father Carl Schellenberger (later to Johann Schellenberger). In spring 1879, Theodor was assigned to bookbinder Imgardt and was his apprentice at "Papier- und Kontorutensilien Wetzlar" from 6 Apr 1879 to 6 Apr 1882. In addition, he attended the private trade school in Wetzlar from 6 Apr 1879 to 31 Mar 1880. He served in the Prussian Army from 4 Nov 1886 to 17 Sep 1888 and was stationed in Bonn. From 24 Jul to 12 Sep 1890 and from 9 to 22 May 1895, he was drafted for military exercises and discharged to Segeberg. He moved to Segeberg, Holstein, before 1891. Later, he became a bookseller ("Buchhändler").
Theodor married Emma Elise Friederica Störzer on 2 June 1893 in Segeberg.[4] They had three children:
They lived in Segeberg. In 1908, they moved to Altrahlstedt near Hamburg. In 1910, Theodor is listed as a businessman ("Kaufmann") and as residing at Wittigstraße 20, Altrahlstedt.[5] In 1913, he is listed as an insurance official ("Versicherungsbeamter") and as residing at Hermannstraße, Altrahlstedt.[6] In 1914, he is listed as a clerk ("Bureaubeamter", "Kommis") and as residing at Bahnhofstraße 8, Altrahlstedt.[7] From 1 Apr 1914 to 30 Sep 1937, he worked (mostly in the afternoons and evenings) as a club official ("Vereinsbeamter") at the sports club "Hamburger Turnerschaft von 1816". In 1916 and 1917, he lived at Ferdinandstraße 11 in Oldenfelde, in 1919 at Lindenstraße 2 in Altrahlstedt, and in 1921 at Lindenstraße 36. On 27 Dec 1921, he was appointed head of the Altrahlstedt branch of the district savings bank ("Kreissparkasse"). In 1928, 1930, and 1935, he is listed as a club official and as residing at Zollstraße 47, Rahlstedt,[8][9][10] where he and his family had been living at least since 1925. He bought the house from the previous owner in December 1936.[11]
Theodor passed away in 1940[12][13][14] and is buried at Rahlstedter Friedhof in Hamburg.[15]
