Hi Dylan,

Thanks for having a Big Heart and adopting Orphan Profiles. You will want to read this After adopting orphans FAQ to understand what to do next and it explains the special attention those profiles need.

If you have any questions, feel free to ask!

Hi, Dylan, I saw the new profile you created for Pierre Thibodeau and that you proposed a merge with an existing profile. WikiTree is different from FamilySearch and other sites in that we want only one profile per person. When you make a second one, then it causes computer redirects, takes volunteer time and causes inaccuracies (because people then might connect to the duplicate, or put information on one profile and not the other, etc).

Next time you are working on Acadian profiles before 1800, please use the search function to see if the person already exists (we have 14000 early Acadians already here). https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Space:How_to_Search_for_Existing_Profiles This has instructions and screenshots to follow. Doing this first saves time later. If you need any help at all, feel free to contact me, or any leader or member through the project.

Best wishes in connecting to your ancestors on WikiTree, Cindy Bourque Cooper

Hi, Dylan

Congratulations on certifying to work on pre-1700 profiles! It’s very important to read and understand the Pre-1700 Profiles page. These profiles for deep ancestors are shared by many, and collaborating on them works best if we all follow the guidelines in the certification quiz.

Primary sources should always be added to pre-1700 profiles at the time they are created. If you don't have a source for a pre-1700 profile, it would be best to ask for help in the G2G forum before creating the profile.

Hi Dylan,

This is a courtesy e-mail to see how things are going. Are you enjoying WikiTree so far?

Have the tips in the New Member How-Tos been helpful? Most of us still have some questions after reviewing them.

I'm here to help with issues and questions about how WikiTree works. Click my name, then ask in the comment section of my page or send a private message.

PS If you get a "Page Not Found" error when clicking WikiTree email links, you can often find a working version in the public comments on your profile.

PPS Did you discover that the tags on your profile are clickable links to a page of other people who have that tag? You can add more, up to 20 total.

Hi Dylan,

A warm welcome to WikiTree. You are now a full member and can add your family to the big tree!

Click here to start with our New Member How To Pages. They will save you time, energy and frustration as you add your family profiles.

Hope you enjoy WikiTree as much as I have. You never know when you will find a lost family member or ancestor. Or maybe find a hidden family secret about an ancestor. Genealogy to me is like being a detective looking for clues into the past.

Sometimes links don't work in emails. If that's happened to you, check the public comments on your profile as the links will work from there.

Please let me know if you have any questions. I'm always happy to help!
