Biography

John Edward Schafer was born 6 October 1914, near Tonapah, Nye, Nevada, United States. [1] His father was Louis W Schafer , and mother, Maria M (Gašparič) Schafer. John grew up in Gridley, Butte, California and served in the United States Coast Guard during WWII. Afterwards, he married married Fran (Mjehovich) Schafer. They lived most of their adult lives in Sacramento, California, then retired to Rocklin, Placer, California, United States. He died there on 6 March 2001 at the age of 86, [1] and is buried in Calvary Catholic Cemetery and Mausoleum, Sacramento, Sacramento, California, United States. [2] [3]
