John Sawyer II was born in Falmouth, Cumberland County, Maine on December 24, 1745. He was the son of Joseph Sawyer and Joanna Cobb Sawyer. [1][2][3]
He was married January 20, 1768 in Blue Hill, Hancock County, Maine, to Isabelle Martin, daughter of Daniel Martin and Hannah Brooks Martin. They had 11 children:[1]

John Sawyer II is a DAR Patriot Ancestor, A100292.
Enlisting on 17 May 1775, John served with Capt. John Brackett's Brackett-1928 co., Col. Edmund Phinney's (31st) regiment. He entered the Continental Army in 1776 and served about 2 years as Lieutenant and Quartermaster. [1][4]
John died in Buxton, York County, December 30, 1805 at the age of 60. He is buried in the South Buxton Cemetery.[1][2]
