Rick,

Despite the fact that you identified some surnames which will probably connect to some of us, there is nothing in your tree that substantiates your connection to any of these lines. Can you please clarify the lines that you believe contain misinformation and need corrections? Thank you! Sherrie Mitchell-17863

There are probably too many to list them all here, and obviously they can't all be done at once, but here are just a few I have seen:

Margaret Watkins-2933 is not linked to her husband Basil Gaither-126. There is no evidence she was living in 1829.

Ruth Beard Gaither Hardesty Beard-1485 is a duplicate with Ruth Beard Gaither Beard-2806

Ratchell Beard Robbins-11514 has decades old information from Ancestral File, etc. and should be merged Rachel Robins-20

Richard Beard-38 is listed with parents in England for which I have never seen anyone provide evidence. As stated under a comment someone made on the alleged father, he did have a son Richard, but he was born in 1659, which agrees with what I have seen. Unless anyone has evidence to the contrary, he should be disconnected from his "parents."

William Burgess-1951 for his wife Ursula, I highly doubt she was a daughter of George Puddington, but will wait on that until the book is published that I mentioned on another post, which book will hopefully have definitive proof.

For William's daughter Susannah Burgess-2897, I believe she should be moved from William's second wife Sophia to his first wife Jane Robins. Incidentally, the author of the above book mentioned above also agrees with that mother for her.

For Mary Stanton-12, those are the incorrect husbands for her. I propose taking that profile, and listing her correct three husbands, and creating a new Mary Unknown for the three husbands currently linked to Mary Stanton.See my 3 March 2018 message under her for more information.

John Watkins-3063 is listed with a wife Alice Lloyd-2485. I believe it is fairly well documented that this is incorrect, dating back to a Colonial Dame members publication from 100 years ago. I know of no record showing even his wife's given name, so if someone does, it would be welcome.

On John Gaither-3, I would be glad to help with the Disambiguation: Distinguishing John Gaithers section on that page.

Henry Ridgely-92 is listed as the son of a Henry Ridgely born in 1601 in Tiverton, England. He has previously been listed as died in 1710, which is actually Ridgely-92 himself. There is no record of any Ridgely appearing in Tiverton records. That appears to be confusion with his wife Alice Skinner who was from Tiverton. His father's name should be changed to "Unknown" Ridgely, and his *proved* brother William Ridgley-70 should be added there. There is no evidence of William's alleged parents Charles and Mary that were added in 2013 with no sources still. This is information that has been floating around on Ancestry for decades of people just copying each other with no documentation.

For William Ayres-90 there is no evidence his wife Sarah was a Marsh-446, especially born in Massachusetts in 1608. (Think about that one for a minute.) She should be disconnected, and his wife added as a Sarah Unknown. The thought she was a Marsh was in Donna Valley Russell's Volume 1 on Anne Arundel County families, which she corrected in Volume 2 after I corresponded with her.

Thomas Allanson-462 is partly a duplicate with Thomas Allison-1987, but the latter has an unproved birth date of 1639 and parents. That "father" Thomas Allison-1987 is listed as born about 1613 with parents Thomas Allanson and Elizabeth Smythe. The problem is that they did have a son Thomas, but he wasn't born until about 1633, so he cannot be the Thomas born in 1639. There was a Thomas born in 1639, but there is no evidence he is the Thomas Allanson-462 of Maryland. Thomas Allanson-462 is listed with no children, but their children are under Thomas Allison-1987. They have different profiles for the wife Mary Roberts, and unfortunately the one with more correct information on Mary Roberts is Thomas Allison-1987 which profile is a mess: Listing his father as a Thomas born in 1613 who was actually born about 1633, and listing him as born in 1639, which is a third completely different Thomas, from the one in Maryland.

These are just a few of the "low hanging" fruit that I have come across that are all "well known" errors in lineages that may appear on hundreds of trees on Ancestry (and earlier on the Ancestral File and other such places) and got copied onto WikiTree, some more than 10 years ago.

I joined WikiTree in 2014, and saw what appeared to be a mess, and have had little to do with it since that time until recently. Mostly I would just post a comment as to what appeared to be incorrect information on some profiles and cite correct records in the comments. Sometimes action was taken, on others no action has been taken for years. I can see improvement since the mess I saw in 2014, especially on some profiles as Matthew Howard-8458 and Edward Dorsey-254 in dispelling myths about their ancestry. Many of all the above things I list I have tried to dispel those myths both on my own website and on FamilySearch's Family Tree, where for the most part I have corrected them.

Things I have already done recently: Disconnected Edward Gaither-109 from being married to Eleanor the widow Whittle (who is a different person) and added a correct Eleanor unknown as his wife.

Added a timeline with sources to Robert Franklin-247 and his wife Sarah Gott-2. Although there was some correct information listed on the biographies, Sarah was somehow linked to her son Robert Franklin as her husband.

Added Augustin Skinner-12246 as a half brother to Alice Skinner-1499 who was the wife of Henry Ridgely-93

William Barton-1472 had two sons named William. One who died young by his first wife Anne Smoot, and one by his second wife Mary Unknown. The wife, children, etc. were attached to the first son who died young. Corrected that to second son William.

Added Henry Saunders-15950

Rick, looked up the reference you gave re Rachel Beall on Ninian's page and the original seems to refer to a Richard Wade and Daniel Delozor. But it's been a while since I did any work on Ninian, so I spent some time anyway! Thanks for your extremely valuable research.

Hi, I have been doing research since 1972, and professionally since 1998. I just wanted to correct information listed here that is copied from Ancestry Trees, and replace it with source cited information.
