Hi,

It’s Germany Project check-in time again! Please respond within the next 2 weeks and let me know if you’re still interested in participating with the Project. Remember, the only requirements for membership in the Germany Project are (1) that you work on at least one German profile every 6 months and (2) that you respond to this check-in.

Since you’re not working with one of our Sub-projects or Teams yet, please look at our main Project page for a full list and let me know which team you’d like to join.

Please respond to this message by posting a reply below or sending me a private message on WikiTree. In your response, we welcome any feedback you may want to give on the project (what you like about it, what you’d like to see us do, what we could change, etc.)

If you ever have any questions, please ask. I look forward to hearing from you soon!

Hi Don,

I just wanted to touch base with you and see if you have any questions about the Germany Project. Have you read the main Project page? Do you have any questions or suggestions? Would you like to join one of our teams? Most of the info you need will be linked to the main Project page here: https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Project:Germany and Dieter and I are always available to answer questions.

You have not yet joined our Google Group and you can ask questions there as well as on G2G. To join the Google Group, please click this link: https://groups.google.com/g/wikitreegermanroots and request to join.

Best regards, Traci

Thanks for the welcome. Joined the Google page before reading the project, so never put my ID on the join request.

Hi Dan,

Thanks for joining the Germany Project! Welcome! I've awarded you a project member badge. When you have a chance, please do the following:

1. Read the main Germany Project Page (https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Project:Germany) to familiarize yourself with what we do.

2. Submit a join request to our Google Group (https://groups.google.com/g/wikitreegermanroots), where our project communicates. **Please make sure to add your name and WikiTree ID** to the request so we can get you set up.

3. Join a Team: On our main project page, we have listed several teams that cover regional, functional, historical and migrational interests. You might find that one of our 16 regional teams may be a good fit. Simply post a comment on the Team page to join whichever team suits you.

We look forward to working with you! Please feel free to contact me with any questions any time.

Thanks! Traci Thiessen ~ Germany Project co-leader

Hi Don, thanks for your contributions to WikiTree :) We really appreciate you adding to our shared family tree.

I noticed that you have created a couple of profiles of people born prior to 1700 citing information from other personal family trees. With pre-1700 profiles it is really important to include reliable sources as discussed as part of the pre--1700 certification Pre-1700 profiles. As you are interested in genealogy in Scotland, you may be interested in joining the Scotland project to collaborate with other Scottish genealogists. They will also be able to assist with sourcing pre-1700 profiles in Scotland. Alternatively, if you have any questions about sourcing, please don't hesitate to contact me, Kind regards Gillian

Do you have a german/Prussian Project?

Hi Don, this is the link for the Germany Project. To join up to any project, just answer the G2G Welcome Post for that specific project. The link on the project page will take you to the Welcome Post. Gillian

Hi Don,

Thank you for adding your DNA to WikiTree. Getting the Best from DNA will tell you more about how DNA kits are used on WikiTree.

The GEDCOMpare process guide has tips on how to use the data in your file most efficiently.

I hope this helps! If you have any questions or problems, let me know.

Have fun

Hilary ~ WikiTree Greeter

PS There is a tool that can help with cleaning up GEDCOM created biographies. It lets you concentrate on the genealogy rather than the formatting. You can read more about it in the WikiTree AGC FAQ.

Hi Don,

Thanks for taking the Pre-1700 Quiz!

Because pre-1700 ancestors are shared by many descendants, working within the projects which coordinate them is essential.

Use the Pre-1700 Projects list to find one which best fits your research focus, whether time period, location, or topic. Read the goals and tasks of the project and join if it is a good fit.

Add the project tag to your Following list to be kept up to date on any activity that occurs for that project.

Can't find what you're looking for? Let me know, and I can make some suggestions! :-)

Thanks for volunteering; You are now a confirmed member of WikiTree!

WikiTree members are always eager to offer guidance to a fellow genealogist so ask for help if you need anything.

If you have WikiTree-specific problems you can contact a Mentor? at the Mentors Project.

Take a look at our Question of the Week: Have you stumbled upon any strange deaths of your ancestors? Bizarre? Peculiar? Unusual? and share a little something about your search.

Welcome Michael F. Harris, Volunteer Greeter

Hi Donald,

A warm welcome to the WikiTree family! The initial email from us has helpful links that will get you started on WikiTree, which is not like any genealogy site you’ve ever used and it is FREE. WikiTree is different because our goal is to have one profile per person, and that means we all work together as a BIG collaborative team!

What brings you to WikiTree? Do you have research you’d like to share? Are you interested in how your family fits into the big tree? When you confirm your email address, you’ll have an opportunity to volunteer and tell us about your genealogical interests.

Once you volunteer, one of our Greeters will be happy to confirm your membership, and you’ll be on your way!

We’re really glad you’re here. More importantly, have fun growing your family tree and connecting to persons with the same interest.

Ludwig :)
