OLD BIBLE PURCHASED WITH INFO ON KINNE, SALISBURY, DARBY, PECK Families Lynda Darby Ozinga (View posts) Posted: 21 Apr 2001 06:00AM Classification: Bible I purchased on old Bible which was apparently the property of Alice Kinne who married Elisha Salisbury, as it began with their marriage dates & the notation in shaky old handwriting, "We was married Jan 24, 1805". I do not know if the information contained in the Bible is entirely correct or not, but will place it here & welcome corrections & additions. It is contained on many scraps of paper in the Bible so was sometimes hard to tell which child belonged with which parent at times, so be aware there may be errors.

Elder Ira Kinne (1740-1819), born Voluntown, CT, died Homer, New York, was married to Miriam Goodell Nov 12, 1765 by James Cogswell. Their children are listed as all being born in Voluntown, CT:

Esther Kinne married Amos Crandall Feb 22, 1798

Abigail Kinne married Levi Phillips in 1789.

Their son Waterman Phillips married Lois Grow in 1822. (Lois was the daughter of Elisha & Lois Palmer Grow, Elisha was the brother of Anna Grow Darby, who was Lyman & Thomas Darby Sr.' mother.....Anna & Elisha's & mother, was Experience Goodell Grow who was married to Thomas Grow.

Experience was the sister of Miriam Goodell married to Ira Kinne.

Miriam & Experience were the children of Ebenezer & Experience Lyon Goodell, & Ebenezer Goodell was the brother of Edward Goodell who married Lydia Eaton.

Lydia Eaton was the sister of Susannah Eaton who married Thomas Grow Sr, the father of Thomas Grow who married Experience Goodell & became the parent of Anna Grow Darby.

Edward Goodell married to Lydia Eaton was the father of Daniel who married Frances Craft, & Daniel & Frances were the parents of Lydia Goodell who married Darius Kinne above.

They were also the parents of her sister Susan Goodell who married Benjamin Knight, & the parents of Frances Goodell who was the wife of Judge John Keep who performed the marriage of Miriam & Prosper Cravath above.

Judge John Keep helped Rev. Alfred Bennett start up the McLean Baptist church in McLean, Tompkins County ,NY; & Rev. Alfred Bennett was married to Rhoda Grow, the sister of Anna Grow Darby & Elisha Grow who married Lois Palmer above.)

Chester Kinne married Silence Cogswell, Sept 1, 1795 (Their daughter Selinna Kinne married Joseph Darby Jr., son of Joseph Darby Sr. & his second wife, ASenath Tyler. Anna Grow Darby, mother of Thomas, Lyman & Dilla Darby died in 1806.)

Re: OLD BIBLE PURCHASED WITH INFO ON KINNE, SALISBURY, DARBY, PECK Families Lynda Ozinga (View posts) Posted: 06 Dec 2003 09:06PM Classification: Query Surnames: Peck, Darby, Salisbury, Keep, Grow, Bennett, Northrup, Kinne, et all I do still have the Bible. I would love to get more information on Buell Kinne has have nothing except a birth date.

Chester & Silence died per the Bible (He) Sept 4, 1847, she August 19, 1845.

Their children were Chester, Bishop, Prentice, Martyn, Levi, Buell, Joseph, John & Darius F., Electa, Selina & Betsey.

Selina married Joseph Darby jr....who was my Gr. Gr. Gr. Grandfathers 1/2 brother. My Gr Gr Gr Grandfather was Thomas Darby born Cortland NY 1802, died 1883. His father was Joseph Darby & mother Ann Grow who died 1806.

Joseph then married Asenath Tyler 1807 & she is the mother of Joseph Darby Jr who married Selina Kinne. There are many other marriages in the family also which include cross relationships to the Pecks & Salisburys.

The Pecks were Baptist Ministers, John Peck & his wife Sarah Northrup had Rev. John & Rev. Nathan. Rev. Nathan had Urana Peck & they are the parents of my G G G Grandmother, Urana Peck. Urana's sister Celista Peck married Benjamin Salisbury, son of Benjamin & Lydia Baker.

Benjamin Jr's sister Cynthia married Thomas Darby's older brother Lyman Darby.

A brother Elisha Salisbury married Alice Kinne' & this Bible belonged to her - her brother Joseph Kinne, married ABigail Saliasbury & Another sister Abigail Salisbury married Joseph Kinne.

The Kinne's I've just mentioned (Chester, Abigail, Alice & Joseph) are the children of Elder Ira Kinne & his wife Miriam Goodell.

Miriam Goodell is the sister of Experience Goodell Grow who was Anna Grow Darby's mother.

Experience was married to Thomas Grow & Miriam & Experience are the children of Ebenezer Goodell & his wife Experience Lyon, dau of Abiel Lyon & Judith Farrington, some of the first settlers of this area of CT.

The Salisbury's I've just mentioned who are intertwined with the Darby, Peck & Kinne' family's (Elisha, Abigail, Benjamin, & Cynthia are all the children of Benjamin Sr. & Lydia Baker).

These folks were all Baptists & were relatives through marriage to the Baptist MInister in Cortland & Homer, Rev. Alfred Bennet. His wife Rhoda Grow was the sister of Anna Grow, neice of Miriam Kinne married to Elder Ira Kinne.

He baptized most of the folks - this from the Cortland Historical Church records mentioned above. He has written a book & has a memorial published after death, very iteresting person, friend of Adoniram Judson, & his son died in Burma assisting the ministry of Adoniram Judson as a printer.

Rhoda Grow Bennett & Anna Grow Darby were related to many other women in the church by cousins, but because history only tells us their married names, we would not realize they were related, at least I didn't, until finding this Bible.

Anna & Rhoda had sisters Hannah, Lois, Chloe & others all married to church Elders & Deacons in the Baptist Church & other relatives of Buell Kinne in the Homer/Cortland area through Miriam Kinne being their cousin were Judge John Keep's wife Frances Goodell & her sister Lydia, who married their cousin Darius Kinne, son of Miriam & Elder Ira Kinne.
