Vita Salemi is a Corleone native resident, the daughter of Pasquale Salemi and Filippa Patella.[1][2] Based on her reported age at death, Vita is seven when she marries. I estimate she is 17 (b. 1785) when she marries, and is actually 80 when she dies.
Vita marries Pietro Cascio (b. 1782) on 10 October 1802. Her parents are still living.[3]
Vita and Pietro have at least twelve children together: Santa Maria (1804), two sons named Giuseppe (1807 and 1817), Filippa (1809), two sons named Angelo (1810 and c. 1818), two daughters named Vincenza (1811 and 1824), Biagia (1815), Antonia (1820), Salvatore (1822), and Pasquale (1831).
Santa Maria is born and baptized 1 November 1804. Her godparents are Leoluca and Maria Saporito ("Sapurita"), who are not married.
The first son named Giuseppe, after a paternal uncle, is born and baptized on 26 August 1807. His godparents are Onofrio and Lucia di Giglio, a married couple.
He dies on 12 September 1808 at a year of age.
Filippa, named after her maternal grandmother, is born and baptized on 10 February 1809. Her godparents are Emmanuele Napoli and Anna Maria Vintaloro, wife of Giuseppe.
She dies on 4 September 1809 at seven months of age.
The first son named Angelo, after his paternal grandfather, is born and baptized on 16 July 1810. His godparents are Antonio and Ignazia Cuniglio, son and mother.
Angelo dies on 7 October 1810 at five months of age.
The first daughter named Vincenza is born and baptized on 4 August 1811. Her godparents are Salvatore and Caterina Badami, father and daughter.
The second son named Angelo is born around 1814, based on his reported age at death.
Biagia is born and baptized 3 April 1815. Her godparents are Paolo Patella and Felicia, wife of Nicolo' Patella.
The second son named Giuseppe is born and baptized 23 June 1817. His godparents are Gioachino and Antonia d'Amico, a married couple.
Antonia is born and baptized on 13 January 1820. Her godparents are Giuseppe and Rosaria Lione, a married couple.
Antonia dies on 14 September 1820 at eight months of age.
Salvatore is born and baptized on 2 June 1822. His godparents are Francesco and Calogera lo Bello, brother and sister.
Vincenza dies at age 12 (b. 1811) on 14 October 1823.
The second daughter named Vincenza is born and baptized on 23 August 1824. Her godparents are Nicolo' and Antonina Billieri, brother and sister.
She dies at two years of age on 20 August 1826. The record of her death calls her their son, Vincenzo.
Biagia marries Giovanni Cutrone on 4 February 1838.
Giuseppe marries Giuseppa Profita on 18 January 1846.
Pietro dies at age 76 (b. 1782) on 1 September 1858. Vita survives him.
Salvatore dies a month later at age 30 (b. 1828) on 2 October. He is married to Antonina Dragna.
Death of Vita
Vita dies, reportedly at age 70 (b. 1795) on 5 November 1865, the widow of Pietro. Given the date of her marriage, and her reported age in 1834, I believe Vita is ten years older than reported at death.[4]
Maria Santa dies at age 60 (b. 1809) on 23 August 1869, a widow.
Giuseppe dies on 31 August 1870 in his home in via San Pietro, Corleone, reportedly age 50 (he is 53). He is married to Giuseppa Profita, with whom he has at least eight children. By this time, Vita has passed away.
Biagia dies at age 72 on 2 August 1887. She is survived by her husband, Giovanni.
