Biography

Shelagh (Gallwey-11) said that he had had a very limited education as his father had died when he was very young (10.06.1900). He worked as an untrained electrician and was a likable character but something of a rolling stone who took advantage of his sisters’ generosity. Inevitably he was his mother’s favourite but was a popular uncle in the family. He had an electrical contracting business in Scottburgh but had to move to Durban on the advent of WWII. At different times they lived in Coronation Road in Overport, 626 Currie Road and then in Montpellier Road, Durban, about two blocks from his youngest sister Babs, including spells in Wyebank, Kokstad and elsewhere.
