Biography
Jean Baptiste was the son of Jean Baptiste Royer and Marie Lepage. He was born on 15 Aug 1888 in Saint-Charles, Bas-Canada and baptized that day at Saint-Charles Church. His godparents were Joseph Couture and his maternal grandmother, Mary Ann Hautbois.[1]
Jean Baptiste Royer [spelled Rogner in the record] married Marie Angélique Gosselin on 25 Jun 1821 at Saint-François-Xavier, Vechères, Bas-Canada.[2] Marie Angélique was a widow with small children, but Jean Baptiste had never been married. Jean Baptiste was a farmer in Saint-Marc with ties to Saint-Charles, where he was born and his father still lived. Marie and her widowed mother lived at Vechères, and attended church at Saint-François-Xavier. Jean Baptiste and Marie Angélique would stay at Vechères for a few years before relocating to Saint-Pie, Bas-Canada.
He passed away on 5 Sep 1853, age 64, at Saint-Pie, Bas-Canada and was buried two days later in the parish cemetery.[3] He was identified as "Jean Rodier" in his burial record, no surviving wife or children were identified.
