Research Notes

Previous note -- "The marriage record has his name as Damase Roy with "Eusèbe" as a note in the margin. According to family stories, this was done to distinguish himself from his father who was also named Eusèbe."

The marriage record actually has an 'X' above the name Damase, and the text at the end of the record indicates changes are in the margin, where we find the corrected name Eusèbe. Other sources would need to be found to show Damase was actually a nickname instead of just an error by the priest.

Later find -- 1861 Census does have his given name as Damase, not Eusebe.
