INFORMATION TAKEN FROM ADELAIDE OBITUARY 1894 - 1954 William Wilcox Rouse an old resident of Hawker district died at his son in law Mr F Crossman Warcowie, in his 81st year. He was born in Lincolnshire on May 26th 1835 and arrived in Port Adelaide on the ship Ascendant in January 1851 in the company of his parents two sisters and a brother. he settled in Hindmarsh Valley where he engaged in farming pursuits till 1878. He married Miss Ann Michael. In 1877 he selected land in the hundred of Wirrianda with the help of his family carried on farming till 1813 when he gave up business on account of his health to reside with his daughter at Warcowie. His wife died shortly afterwards at the age of 85. previous to leaving the south he was superintendent of the Congregational Sunday school at Pt Elliot he was also a member of the Rechabite Order for over 54 years. he having joined the Rising Star Tent No 5, in Victor Harbour in 1861 one month after the Tent was formed. for 10 Years he was secretary. He was also a lay reader of the methodist church. the surviving members of his family are two daughters (Mrs Crossman of Warcowie and Mrs AG Basham of East Wagin fifteen grandchildren and eight great, great, grandchildren)
