Andrew James Rogers
I was born on August 24th, 1961 in Köln (Cologne), Germany, the son of Charles Frederic Rogers (a Canadian) and Anneke (nee Groot, from the Netherlands). My father was a Canadian Immigration Officer and my mother was a homemaker, although she also worked as a teacher and translator in her lifetime.
My family moved many times as my father was posted to a number of countries as part of his career:
After university, I moved to Toronto and secured a 6-month contract job with the Facilities Department at IBM Canada Headquarters, 3500 Steels Ave E., Markham, Ontario. During my second 6-month contract, I applied to and secured a permanent position as a security guard in the Security Department. In my second year in the Security Department, I applied to an IBM retraining program that allowed administrative employees to take courses in Computer Programming and Computer Science at Ryerson University in the hopes of turning them into software engineers/programmers.
After graduation from the Ryerson program (1986), I started as a Technical Writer for the IBM Canada Laboratory at 1150 Eglinton Avenue.
13 years total with IBM.
Went freelance in 1997. Worked with the following companies:
In 2001, joined Sybase Canada in Waterloo:
Married Heather Williams on June 27, 1994. We met at IBM and she was also a technical writer. We have four children, two boys and two girls.
I have traced my Rogers ancestors back to the 1500s. All of the Rogers came from Devon, UK. They emigrated to London, Ontario circa 1855. Most of the Rogers family at that time were plumbers and they helped build the London Waterworks in the 1880s as part of the Stevens, Turner, and Burns Company (eventually becoming Empire Brass, now EMCO). My grandfather and great-grandfather were salesmen for plumbing companies operating out of Hamilton.

Could you please either correct the name or add me to the trusted list and I'll fix it.
Thank you
Removing PPP from all not notable post 1811 profiles managed by the Netherlands project
As a first step in our quest for a more managable list of project managed profiles. We are going to review all post 1811 Project Protected Profiles. Every profile from this period which is not a notable profile will lose it's PPP-status.
Our reason for this measure is to get a list which conforms to the WikiTree rules for PPP's (wikitree uses a 200 years limit) We use 1811 becausee it is the start of the civil registration.

Thank you for adding your DNA to WikiTree. Getting the Best from DNA will tell you more about how DNA kits are used on WikiTree.
I hope this helps! If you have any questions or problems, let me know.
Take care
