Robert was born about 1765 in Londonderry, Nova Scotia. From "Sketch of Old Shepody" published in The Daily Sun (Saint John, March 27 1893):[1]
John and Robert Rogers ... moved from Londonderry, N.S. in the year 1801. The father of John and Robert Rogers had emigrated from Londonderry, Ireland in the second emigrant ship that left after the war between England and France, landing in Halifax. He afterwards moved to Colchester and founded the township of Londonderry. ... John and Robert Rogers married sisters, daughters of John MAHAN, who emigrated from Ireland with the elder Rogers. ... Robert's family were John, George, William, Peggy, Mattie and Matilda.
