Hello Laura,

You may be interested in our WikiTree Adoption Angels Project.

You can also use the Help menu in the upper right corner of every page to get to the G2G Forum to ask questions about how to use WikiTree in your adoption search, or find some basic adoption search help here.

By adding your branches to our shared tree, there may be an opportunity for someone to find you, AND adding your branches and working to source and confirm that information will get you closer to the end of your search.

Laura--

You've been here for three weeks now! We hope your profiles are starting to come together and that you've enjoyed getting to know all of us a little better. You're probably getting a good feel for the collaborative nature of WikiTree by now. We know that collaboration isn't always easy. So, we've put together a few pointers that can make working in this type of environment a little easier: How to be a Successful WikiTreer. As always, your questions are welcome!

Hi Laura,

It's time for your next stop on the guided tour!

This week, we'd like to show you How to Join in the Community. There's no shortage of opportunities to get involved through social media, our forum, and projects.

Be sure to check out the One Name Studies Project to see if anyone has started a project for one of the surnames in your family. Don't see one? Follow the instructions for starting your own!

Please let us know if you have questions! Just click my name above the comment, then ask in the comment section of my page. We want to help!

Hi Laura --

You've been here a week now, and we hope you enjoyed your first stop on your guided tour of WikiTree and were able to make good use of the things you learned.

Our next stop will give you some pointers on how to make your profiles stand out: How to Edit a Profile.

As always, your questions are welcome!

Hi Laura! David's Internet went sideways & I'm helping out. I don't work with gedcoms - I did once, to help my grandson upload his from Ancestry - and am really happy that I did all mine by hand.

I did find the gedcom report extremely helpful, but I think I would have been happier using the info from the report but entering new profiles manually. I think it depends how many profiles you have to add.

You might want to post a question in g2g - tag it gedcom so it'll be listed among posts about gedcom (some are tagged gedcoms, but gedcom has more traffic): https://www.wikitree.com/g2g/tag/gedcom

You might find this post of interest too.

Cheers, Liz

Hi Laura,

Thanks for joining us! I’m David, a WikiTree Mentor. Hope you're enjoying our site.

Did you have fun learning your way around WikiTree yesterday?

I just wanted to check in and see how things are going. Do you have any questions I can answer?

You are now a confirmed member, and you can get started adding your family members. As we've said, WikiTree is quite different from other genealogy sites. So, we've put together a guided tour to help you learn how to use it. Your first stop is How to Start Climbing Our Tree.

Tomorrow, you'll hear from a Mentor who will check in to see how you're doing and answer any questions you might have.

Next week, you'll get another message with your next stop on the guided tour.

You can also meet some of our members by joining in the fun with our Question of the Week in the G2G forum Do you have any inventors in your family tree? Welcome!

Shirley
