John Roe was born in County Durham, England.
Sapper John Roe was Killed in Action during World War I.
John William Roe was born in the town of Stockton in 1898 and was the son of William Roe and Elizabeth Smith.[1]
On the 1901 census, John, aged 2 years, is living at 35 Howden St, Stockton, with his parents.[2]
On the 1911 census, John, aged 12 years, is living at 35 Howden St, Stockton, with his parents and sister, Clarice, aged 5 years.[3]
At the age of eighteen, John William Roe enlisted with the Royal Engineers but he was killed in action on 25 April 1918. John was buried in La Clytte Military Cemetery, West-Vlaanderen, Belgium.[4][5]
