Biography
Edmund was born about 1589. He was an Elizabethan undertaker from the reign of Elizabeth. He acquired land grants in Cloghane, county Kerry.
Marriage
Edmund Roe married the only heir of Jenkin Conway of Killorglin Castle and because she was an only child, he therefore inherited her Conway Kilorglin properties, including the island on Innisfallen. [1]
Edmund Roe died in March 1620. There was an inquest post-mortem in 1621 - [2] The inquest mentions Jenkin Conway, Richard Roe, Edmund's widow Alice, Elizabeth Harries widow of Arthur Denny, Richard Conway, Nicholas Roe, Edmund's daughter Elizabeth. Arthur Denny died in 1619 but Burke's Peerage doesn't have Elizabeth marrying Thomas Harris until 1639.
Elizabeth was still a minor in 1633 when she married James Conway, James was of age and petitioned to inherit her estates.
Edmund Roe was a Lieutenant and he was tasked with rebuilding the walls of Tralee in 1613 as the the man previously in charge had achieved nothing.
