John Rodgers was born in Yorkshire, England.

John was born about 1817 and baptized 9 March 1817 in Wibsey, Yorkshire. He is the son of Isaac Rodgers and Sarah Priestly.^[1]

He married Sarah Mann 1 January 1838 in Tong, Yorkshire.^[2] His brother, William, married Sarah's sister, Hannah.^[3]
