1. One Gordon was chplain of the 21st (British) Regiment at Moile. MPA, English Dominion, I, 515. Perhaps he was the Reverand William Gordon, widower with four children at Mobile in 1780. Hamilton, Colonial Mobile, 313n.
2. Apparently the son of Francois Parant and Marie Anne Arlut who was baptized January 22, 1738. He was sixty-three years old in July 1800. Mob. bb I:121; ASP I:665.
3. Possibly the daughter of Jean Rochon and Marie Joseph Milon, who was baptized October 7, 1756. Mob. bb I:194.
4. These are not signatures: the names were written by the priest to show signatures that appeared either on the 1772 record or on a different original record of this 1773 certification.

Father Ferdinand had left Mobile in August, 1770 and did not return until June, 1773. In the absence of a priest, the marital union could have taken place by mutual consent before their family and friends or before a Protestant minister.
