Biography
On the 14th day of the seventh month called July one thousand seven hundred and eighty nine was born at Darlington in the parish of Darlington in the County of Durham to Edward Robson, draper and Elizabeth his wife, a daughter who is named Mary. Present at the birth - Ann Arrowsmith, midwife, Mary Backhouse and Ann Spencer. [1]
On the fifth day of the eighth month one thousand eight hundred and seven, Edward Backhouse of Darlington in the County of Durham, banker, son of Jonathan Backhouse of Darlington aforesaid, banker and Ann his wife, and Mary Robson daughter of Edward Robson of the same place, linen and woolen draper and Elizabeth his wife took each other in a publick assembly of the people called Quakers in Darlington, aforesaid. In the presence of us, John Mounsey of Sunderland, furrier, Cuthbert Wigham of Yarm, draper, James Procter of Yarm, merchant. [2]

Mary died on July 23, 1860, aged 71 and was buried on 27 Jul 1860 Mary Backhouse, of Ashbourne, age: 71, widow of Edward Backhouse (coal owner), Quaker at Bishopwearmouth Cemetery. [3]
