Robert Roberts Sr. is estimated to have been born around 1680.
Robert married Ann Bullock, on 8 Jan 1709/10, at Hanslope, in Buckinghamshire, England.
Robert and Ann had several children who were baptized at Hanslope; Elizabeth in 1710, Mary in 1718, and John in 1724. Only John had his mother named in the register, but the date of their marriage suggests that Ann was also the mother of the other children.
Robert seems to have lived in a house at Stocking Green, near Hanslope, from at least around 1733, until his death. His first recorded rent payment of 5s was paid to the Duke of Kingston, on 29 Sep 1733, and he appears to have paid the same amount, on the same day, each year thereafter. It would appear from the names of his neighbours that he probably lived in the same house for most of that time.
Around 1750, Robert's son, Robert Roberts Jr., assumed the rent of a neighbouring property from a man named Robert Bull. The rental records seem to suggest that the property may have been an Inn, although it was described as a house, and the rental rate of 5s, probably suggests that it was a fairly modest building. Robert and his son both appear as near-neighbours in the rental records over subsequent years.
Robert Roberts, labourer, was buried on 20 Dec 1754, at Hanslope. He would likely have been aged in his 70s, quite an advanced age for the period.
On 29 Sep 1755, and on the same day each year until 1761, the widow of Robert Roberts paid 5s rent to the Duke of Kingston for a cottage at Stocking Green. Her next-door neighbour was John Roberts, probably her son. Curiously, her other son Robert does not appear again in the rental records after his father's death.
A pauper named Ann Roberts was buried on 2 Mar 1760, at Hanslope. She was probably Robert's widow.
