This is one reanson that I have gotten interested in my Family Geneaoly. The the following is a preface in the Black binder that I received upon my mothers Dorothy Lenette (Flint) Roberts death.

MASSACHUSETTS AND SOME OF HIS DESCENDANTSWILLIAM FLINT OF SALEM,

This genealogy was started some years ago by my grandfather LeRoy A. Flint, in an attempt to establish his ancestry.'There was much corresponding between Rev. Alven Martyn Smith, of South Pasadena,California, Gilbert H. Doane, of the University of Nebraska, Lincoln, Nebraska, who were distant cousins, and Charles W. Flint, a First cousin, all descending from Edward (2) William (1) He lost a good many of his records in the Vermont Flood of the North Branch River 1928 and had to start all over again, collecting data with the help and reliance of keen memory. With the help of his cousin Charles W. Flint, they were able toprove themselves back to William Flint, brother of Thomas of Salem. It seems, from the letter written to LeRoy A. by Charles, that they had both been following the wrong line. Perhaps trying to work back from Thomas. I have found very little of their material in error and it was this ground work that stimulated my interest to continue on and prove as many lines as possible. LeRoy A. Flint, also worked on. the Kemp, Russell, and Blanchard lines, and with the help of my aunt Mary B.(Flint) Richardson, and my father LeRoy Clayton. Flint, considerable amount of information has been compiled. My intent in the beginning was only to complete my own immediate blood line so that my children would know of their ancestry. This was not a selfish intent and as learned that others showed an interest to their forbear I broadened tiie scope of this genealogy to include ail those descending from LeRoy Adelbert Flint. & Lenette Alena.(Kemp) Flint, with some descendants from Blanchard, Kemp, and Russell. I have incorporated as many blood lines to myself as I have been able to follow thus far. This work is far from being complete, and of course, can never be. All further information acquired from this date 1971, will be added to the supplement of this work and will be found in the Rhode Island Historical Library, in Providence, R.I.

Harold Norman Flint

When my mother died I was given a black binder than was of the Flint Family Genealogy. This was written with a typewriter. I found that my Great grandfather Leroy Adlebet Flint had started this in the 1920's and was handed down to my Grandfather Leroy Clayton Flint then to his son Harold Norman Flint. Now as I look back this must have been quite a task as there was no internet. Any correspondence was done my mail or phone. Research had to have been done in a library. I believe that the last time any work done on the Genealogy was in the early 70's prior to my uncles death. I took great interest in this and my daughter surprised me about 1995 with a gift of Family tree software. So I began this journey through history continuing with the addition to the History of our Family.

My Grandfather and most of my Family are Buried here.

Bill,

I think Herriman should be retained as an Other Last Name for Matthew Harriman because (i) Herriman is an alternative spelling of his last name that is used for him in the Haverhill vital records (eg for his birth and the births of his children) and (ii) it is, I believe, considered to be good wikitree practice to list alternative spellings in the OLN field so that the alternative spellings show up in name searches (which is useful, among other things, to reduce the risk of duplicate profiles being created).

Best, Chase

Hi!

Now that you have had a little time to try WikiTree, there are a few more features you may find useful.

Ideas on what to include in a profile can be found in Styles and Standards, including some tips on writing biographies.

If you need to describe an event, an heirloom or a location relevant to your research, you may like to learn about Free Space Profiles.

Lastly, sometimes you'll run into unresponsive profile managers. We have a process for resolving those unfortunate situations.

If you have any questions, feel free to ask via my profile page.

Bill,

Welcome to the M Team of the WT Source-a-Thon. Our source for the Unsourced (sounds a little like the Undead) is http://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Category:Massachusetts_Unsourced_Profiles Check out the Team Massachusetts page - http://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Space:Team_Massachusetts_-_Source-a-Thon There are links to several source sites, including Source References. The vast majority of the references are for pre-1850 records, and you can view most at ma-vitalrecords.org. On Source References, Go to Edit, and pick out the town you're looking for and copy. You might want to make a copy of the page in order to preserve the original. I use ma-vitalrecords for most of the lookups and to get page numbers. You only need one extra tab for that. If you have any problems or questions, feel free to message or email me. Bob the Sourcerer

Hi Bill,

Welcome to WikiTree! The email we just sent has helpful links to get you started.

WikiTree is different than other genealogy websites because our goal is to have one profile per person, and that means we share ancestors and work together as a BIG collaborative team!

What brings you to WikiTree? Do you have research you’d like to share? Are you interested in how your family fits into the big tree?

When you confirm your email address, you’ll be given an opportunity to volunteer to help document our collective family history. Use the Tags and comments to tell us about your genealogical interests.

When you volunteer, one of our Greeters will confirm your membership. Then you'll be able to add your family to the tree!

We're really glad you're here!
