Birth and Parents: Edgar William Roach was born on 20 September 1899 in Hill County, Texas. The proper order of his given names is not certain, but he appeared to prefer using the name Edgar as the name by which he was called. His parents were Robert Ezekiel Roach and Zarelda Frances (McCauley) Roach (1877 - 1910). His mother passed away when he was still a baby. He was named in her estate records. His father remarried and moved the family to Mangum, Greer County, Oklahoma.[1][2][3][4][5]

Military Service: He enlisted in the United States Army on 14 April 1919. He fought in Germany during World War I. He was discharged on 19 July 1922.[8][5]

Marriage and Family: He and Anna Leola Olive were married on 19 Dec 1925 at Vinson, Harmon County, Oklahoma. He and Anna were the parents of at least four children who were named in his obituary. Three of the children are known to be deceased. It is possible the fourth is still living.[9][5]

Death and Burial: Edgar William Roach passed away on Sunday, 16 April 1939 in Mangum, Greer County, Oklahoma after an illness lasting several months. He was 39 years old. He was buried in Riverside Cemetery, Mangum, Greer County, Oklahoma. The year of his death was incorrectly engraved on his grave marker as 1938.[5][11]
