Biography

Maria May Louise Rigby (married name Little) was born on 7 December 1893 in Beaconsfield, Tasmania, Australia, daughter of Mary Ann Martha (Birch) Rigby and Isaac William Rigby.^{[citation needed]}

She married Albert Victor James Little in 1916 in Victoria.^[1] Their children were:

• Marie Loraine Little (1917–1989)
• Pauline Mary Little (1918–1981)
• Thelma May Little (1919–2007)
• Allan Victor Little (1920–1974)
• Albert Victor James Little (1923–1923)
• Jean Little
• Ronald William Little (1926–2015)

Maria died on 24 February 1951 in Horsham, Victoria, aged 57 years.^[2][3]

Research notes

Mae and her sister-in-law Florence were traveling to Adelaide when their bus was run-over by a goods train at a level crossing. Twenty-two people were on board the bus; eleven died, eleven were seriously injured. Florence survived the crash, Mae was instantly killed having been struck by the steam locomotive.
